One of the most controversial figures among the Presidents of the United States, Richard Nixon remains to this day the only President to have resigned in American history.
In his presidency we remember: the moon landing in 1969, the normalization of relations with China, which became part of the UN Security Council in 1971 and the armistice of the Vietnam War in 1973. But these are also the years of the unscrupulous support for the dictatorial regimes of Latin America and the support for Pinochet's Chilean coup.
The Watergate case, considered the most important political scandal in the United States, brought to light a spying and wiretapping scheme by the Nixon administration during the 1972 election campaign. For Richard Nixon it was the beginning of the end.
