In this travel-adventure show we journey with explorer Ash Dykes on a world first. After 4,000 kilometers of treacherous terrain, hundreds of encounters with local people, wildlife and the river itself, Ash enters into the Guinness Book of Records as the first person ever to walk the entire length of the Yangtze River. Join Ash as he plans meticulously and trains at the Great Wall. We travel to the hard-working town of Colwyn Bay in North Wales to learn more about his background and motivations from his family and friends and then journey to tropical south-west China to see him grapple with the Chinese language, grueling training regimen and the permits required to get to the source. His crew deserts him through altitude sickness and fear of bears, but after a couple more false starts, he is finally off. Professional Mandarin Film crew join Ash at critical moments, and for the times the crew aren’t with him Ash is skilled at self-shooting with drone and handheld cams, often roping in locals to help. China’s traditions rub along with new-youth culture to give us a unique window into the exotic mix that makes up modern-China. Through the highs and the lows we remain up-close-and-personal with Ash and his world record attempt, but also gain fascinating insights into China through the countless people that help him along the way. About Ash Dykes: Ash is an avid explorer and extreme athlete. He holds two world ‘First Record Holder’ titles for being the first person ever to complete a solo and unsupported walk across Mongolia in 2014 and the first person ever to walk the length of Madagascar in 2016. In 2015, Ash was crowned the National Adventurer Of The year. Apart from his adventures, he is a motivational speaker, expedition leader, ambassador and author, published his first book ‘Mission Possible’ in July 2018.
